In 2008, Denver businessman Dob Bennett approached Denver Options with a challenge: If he provided initial, start-up funding, could Denver Options create a program to help the soldiers and veterans who return from Iraq and Afghanistan with a traumatic brain injury? The result: Operation TBI Freedom, a free statewide program that has helped over 650 military personnel heal from the often devastating effects of a traumatic brain injury.

How We Help: Operation TBI Freedom is unique in the country, providing comprehensive services to military personnel, veterans and their families affected by TBI. Our Military Support Specialists, all veterans themselves, understand the experiences and struggles our clients face and are available 24 hours a day to provide:

  • Crisis management & counseling
  • Mentoring
  • Emergency financial assistance for food and housing needs
  • Employment training and support
  • Peer support groups specific to returning soldiers and spouses of military personnel
  • Parenting classes
  • Mental health referrals & help with the symptoms of PTSD and depression
  • Assistance navigating complicated benefit processes, ensuring vets get the remuneration they deserve
  • Medical care, including chronic pain management
  • Assistive technology devices to combat the effects of memory loss and cognitive issues

In short, our trained and compassionate staff are here to ensure that each returning hero is able to connect, contribute and heal.

We Need YOUR Help: The VA estimates that 5,000 soldiers will return to Colorado with a traumatic brain injury. At current funding levels, it will take 20 years to provide help to these returning heroes. You can ensure that this generation’s soldiers and veterans are treated with dignity and respect – and that each receives the support, care and services that they need to continue to live productive lives upon returning home.
