Arthur Lyons first began his military career as the son of a retired infantryman who fought in WW II and Korea, thereby learning firsthand the effects of PTSD upon dependents. His military service officially began in 1977 with enlistment in the Army Reserve. He was discharged in 1985 as he was developing a thirty year investment and finance career that saw him become a regional stock exchange member, corporate VP, and eventually CEO of a small public company. Throughout those years, however, the desire of returning to reserve service remained strong. Finally in 2006, after a 21 year break in service, circumstances permitted Arthur to enlist in the Colorado National Guard as a sergeant. In 2008-2009, desiring to help wounded soldiers, he mobilized as a squad leader in the Warrior Transition Unit at Ft. Carson, CO. The experience was emotionally rewarding and motivated him toward additional service to our country’s finest.
Education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree (Sociology) from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama as well as graduate courses in Human Development from the University of Alabama and Religion/Pastoral Counseling from Concordia Theological Seminary. Now a staff sergeant, Arthur has completed the Warrior Transition Unit Cadre Leadership Course and the Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course.
