Spousal Support Group Starts Wednesday, August 26th

Three years ago, Meghan Palmer had no idea what a traumatic brain injury (TBI) was, nor did she ever expect the impact that it would have on her life. Her husband, Jason, served in the Army and suffered a TBI while deployed in Iraq in 2006. Since then, the couple has experienced many challenges in dealing with his TBI and other neurological setbacks. Now Meghan is starting a support group to help spouses going through similar situations.

The spousal support group, sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of Colorado, will hold its first session at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, August 26th at the Soldier and Family Assistance Center at Ft. Carson. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about Meghan’s personal experiences, share their own and receive support and information to help them navigate through the complicated after-effects of a TBI.

Guest speakers for upcoming sessions include Christen Mason, TBI Program Manager at Denver Options; Gavin Attwood, Executive Director at the Brain Injury Association of Colorado; and Sherri Gross, who specializes in working directly with soldiers, their spouses and dependent children at Cedar Springs Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Sessions are free and will be held on the last Wednesday of every month at 6:30 PM. All sessions will be held at the Soldier and Family Assistance Center.
