Veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their families got an extra boost this holiday season, thanks to the Redistribution Center. The Redistribution Center donated toys to Operation TBI Freedom (OTF) to help veterans with TBI ensure their children received a gift for the holidays. In all, 25 children, ranging in age from 11 months to 13 years, received gifts through the donation. Operation TBI Freedom is a statewide program of Denver Options that helps active duty and military veterans with TBI, and they regularly collaborate with the Redistribution Center to find needed supplies for veterans and their families.
The Redistribution Center is a non-profit that gathers and distributes food, clothing, household goods and other items to military families and others in need. “We receive toy donations throughout the year, and we had extra toys on hand that we wanted to give to families in the military system,” said Ranya Kelly, Executive Director and Founder of the Redistribution Center. When OTF Care Coordinator John Lenz called, Ranya was able to provide toys for several military families in the OTF program who needed extra help for the holidays.
“Their generosity was really helpful for our families during this time of year,” OTF Program Manager Christen Mason said. “We have a lot of military families with kids who can’t afford to do much for the holidays, so the Redistribution Center’s donation really went a long way toward helping these veterans and their families enjoy the holiday season.”
